Textbook Assignment 3:
Out of My Mind, by Sharon Draper, is a realistic fiction
novel about a girl with cerebral palsy who cannot speak or write and feels
trapped. Family and acceptance are the theme
of this realistic fiction novel. Her parents understand her disability and help
her anyway they can. The style of
this novel was also very unique. Being told from the point of view of Melody,
the reader gets a feeling of what it must be like to be a person with cerebral
palsy. The way the main character Melody
tells her story is very inspirational and at times humorous.
